Job Description

Food Industry software & systems integration sales. Have you ever wanted to work with professional people doing professional things? BIT is a Systems Integration Company seeking a Sales & Engineering professional to primarily source and create new business and cultivate existing clients for additional business in software and automation systems integration in the food and bakery industries. Systems include batch and recipe management software and systems for food processing plants throughout the United States. We are at the forefront in the wholesale Food and Baking Industry in automation. We have developed special software for Batch and Ingredient Lot Number Tracking for compliance with Title III of the Bioterrorism Act.

The position will involve working from the head offices in Long Island, NY and traveling throughout the US to potential client sites to meet contacts and work with the engineering staff to help facilitate automation solutions for industry clients.

Experienced systems integration engineering professionals in the company will support your projects.

You will be offered a salary, commission plan and benefits working for a successful systems integration firm with a strong U.S. client base in the food and baking industry. Within a year expect earnings at 150K+.

Required career skills include experience and knowledge of plant automation systems and the ability to demonstrate software. Familiarization with food and baking manufacturing processes is a big plus. A BSEE or related degree is strongly desired.

As the food production industry moves towards complete ingredient, lot, and batch tracking the company is well positioned for explosive growth. Individual factors that will contribute to growth are:

• Development of proper distribution channels.
• A marketing study performed in September of 2003 shows that 31,229 entities exist in the Company’s key market area. If that number is assumed to be 80 percent accurate there are 24,983 business entities that make up the Company’s key market area. With 10 percent penetration over two years and an average sale of $40,000 the Company forecasts sales near $100 million for the two-year period.
• Marketing the product as the only complete scalable solution to t he FDA Food Safety Bioterrorism Act. Again, restricted cash flow has kept the Company from developing a comprehensive multi-channel marketing plan.
• Foreign food companies that sell to the US will also be required to comply with the FDA Food Safety Bioterrorism Act and have to adopt batch and ingredient lot tracking systems consequently the Company will benefit from the increased demand.

Products and Services

The Company produces software and automation products for production, engineering, maintenance, and sanitation departments. The Company also supplies programmable controller (PLC) automation systems with applications from production lines to plant-wide automation and continuous and batch mixing systems used in material handling applications. The Company’s developed, tested and proven software will not only bring customers into compliance with Title III of the FDA Food Safety Bioterrorism Act, it is a invaluable quality control system that creates a return on investment seen in the error proofing of the production process. In this capacity, The Company’s scope of supply includes complete PLC control systems and SCADA/HMI software engineering.

Company products include the following:

• Production Management Artificial Intelligence Control System – a system comprised of SCADA software (RS View, Lookout, or Wonderware) coupled with the company’s software that performs failure and downtime reporting and analysis, production rate and efficiency reporting, product tracking, and Predictive Failure Alarming.

• Production Recipe Ingredient Management Software – Software for PLC controlled ingredient-batching systems. It allows the user to create formulations and production schedules for mixers and to send the schedules to the ingredient system PLCs. The batching is automated and scaling deviations and ingredient usages are recorded. The software eliminates operator errors, producing perfectly controlled batches. This software creates reports for inventory used, ingredient lot numbers, operator adjustments, piece weight at check stations, and can be fully integrated with the scaling system. It requires minimal training, is bug and glitch free, and, most importantly, will make customers compliant with Title III of the FDA Bioterrorism ACT.

• Computer Integrated Scaling – Manual scaling that allows the scale operator to work from a computer-generated work plan or request formulas to scale at the scale terminal. The scale will keep the operator within allowable tolerances by not letting them go to the next step unless the scaled amount is within tolerances. The computer will record and report the results. Computer Integrated Scaling also allows ingredient lot tracking and produces reports on deviations within batches, real time inventory usage, and expands to integrate with a full Production Recipe Ingredient Management System.

• Maintenance Management Software – User-friendly preventive maintenance software designed for bakeries and food plants. It automates preventative maintenance schedules and work orders and handles inventory and purchasing. It is now a standard at many food plants such as Papa Johns, Coca Cola, Pepsi, and Lucent Technology among others.

• Engineering Services - The Company team members have been in the business of applying and installing computer and programmable controller (PLC) automation for over 25 years. The Company’s expertise as a systems integrator is due to Company experience with bakery and food equipment diagnostics. The Company creates diagnostic PLC logic to reduce downtime by understanding the operation of the equipment and the production process. Engineering services accounted for slightly more than 30 percent of Company revenue for the year ended December 31, 2003.

The Company successfully negotiated North American distributor rights with an English firm that added a new product to the Company’s offerings in 2003. The product is a computer software program that will, among other quality control functions, estimate product shelf life based on changes to product recipes. The Company will act as a sales representative for the product’s manufacturer, giving the English company a marketing and sales presence in the United States. In deciding whether to carry the software line, Company president spoke with colleagues at Otis Spunkmeyer Cookies who had used the product and gave it their highest recommendations.

In 2003 the Company also negotiated distributor rights with a US firm that adds another new product to the Company’s offerings for 2004. The product is a computer software program that calculates the nutritional specifications of food products based on product recipes. The Company will act as a sales representative for the product’s manufacturer, giving the company a marketing and sales presence in Canada, the United States and Mexico.

The Company is seeking opportunities to partner with other systems integrators. The Company would authorize the integrators to act as resellers of Company products with the Company driving the marketing and sales efforts.
